Project Perseverance

Language-learning can be filled with both intense stress and satisfying rewards. In response to language challenges, BYU faculty started a project aimed at helping students work past the stress to see success.

In 2010, BYU faculty, including Kirk Belnap (Asian and Near Eastern Languages), Jennifer Bown (German and Russian), Dan Dewey (Linguistics), and Patrick Steffen (Psychology) launched a project aimed at empowering students to become successful life-long language learners. They entitled this endeavor Project Perseverance, and true to its name, this project has both persevered through the past decade and driven students to persevere in their language programs despite enormous difficulties.
